You have questions, we have answers!

How much does orthodontic treatment cost?

Treatment fee depends on the level of work involved. Please call us for a complimentary consultation appointment, during which Dr. Douglas Nguyen will examine your teeth and explain the treatment options. Then our Treatment Coordinator will explain in details the treatment fee and work up a payment plan to suit your needs.

Does my insurance cover orthodontic treatment?

Our Treatment Coordinator will be able to contact your insurance company to obtain coverage information (Explanation of Benefits) for you.

What methods of payments are accepted?

We accept cash, checks, credit cards, insurances, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and Denti-Cal.

Do I need extractions?

Our aim is to avoid extractions whenever possible. However, at times, extractions would be necessary to achieve our goal of straight teeth, balanced facial and lip contours, and healthy and strong periodontal (gum and bone) support. Dr. Douglas Nguyen will consider your individual case carefully, discuss with you the available treatment options, and advise you of the best treatment plan.

Does it hurt when I get my braces put on, and when the braces get tightened?

There is no pain when braces are bonded on. When they are activated, you may feel a little pressure. But you would not need anesthesia for either procedure. Your teeth would become sensitive for a few days following each appointment. But most of the time, the pain is not bad enough to necessitate taking pain-reliever medication. Eating softer foods would help, until the sensitivity subsides.

How often will I be seen?

Most of the time, appointments are 1-2 months apart, depending on the stage of treatment you are in.

How long will my treatment take?

Length of treatment time varies from 1 year to 4+ years, depending on the level of work necessary. Most cases are completed in 2.5-3.5 years. We aim to get your teeth very straight and your occlusion comfortable, and we surmise that this is also very important to you, and so we would like to spend the time necessary to achieve that goal.

Do I need to wear retainers when my treatment is completed?

Yes, retainers should be worn to keep your teeth straight, for life! We recommend that you wear your retainers at least 20 hours per day for the first three months, then every night while sleeping, thereafter, forever!

Can I kiss with braces on?

Well... only if your special someone also has braces on, and only with parents’ permission, if you are a minor. ;)
